Chevin Cuts Carbon Output

Fleet management software specialist Chevin Fleet Solutions is increasing its efforts to reduce not only the impact of its own fleet of company cars upon the environment, but also that of its customers.

By increasing the number of online meetings, customer training seminars and sales demonstrations being held using WebEx technology, Chevin is actively trying to reduce any unnecessary emissions from being added to its own carbon footprint. Stephen de Launay, Chevin's Sales Manager, commented: "Thanks to the flexible, browser-based nature of our FleetWave® software, it is quite straightforward to demonstrate the products' full capabilities via WebEx. We are finding increasing numbers of our customers, and potential customers, becoming more receptive to using this method. Utilising WebEx technology has two-fold effectiveness; as one, it reduces the level of emissions being added to our own carbon footprint and two, customers can still clearly see how our sophisticated Fleet Management software tools can help them to minimise the impact of their own fleet on the environment. For example, if you consider the Energy Saving Trust's "Ten tips for greener fleet management", our software products can hold relevant information and provide key reports on a number of these important recommendations, including: - Measuring carbon footprint of fleets - Fuel management and consumption - Tyre management - Business mileage reporting and analysis - Service and maintenance scheduling and reporting So by trying to cut down on the number of face-to-face meetings we hold, we have made a commitment to reduce our own carbon footprint. And by showing customers how our software can help in managing their fleets from an environmental "best-practice" perspective, we are helping them to reduce their own fleet's impact at the same time."
